Should you shortlist FileSpin?
Shortlist FileSpin when:
- Your team turns creative assets into product, campaign or event media for many channels, and you want sizes, formats, background removal and video outputs created from the same library.
- You want to find assets by business fields such as SKU, market or campaign, then review, deliver and report on them without exporting files between tools.
- You want to work from the Dashboard and APIs, with an optional AI Agent and MCP tools under per-user budgets.
Air may fit better when:
- Visual boards, image and video feedback and Kanban-style creative production are the centre of your requirements.
- You want to generate new images and creative variants with AI in the same workspace, through Air Canvas.
What to test before you decide:
- Take one campaign from upload to the image sizes and video outputs each channel needs.
- Run a review with an external approver, then share the approved files.
- Export a sample of your Air boards, tags and custom fields, and plan how share and CDN links will change.
FileSpin vs Air at a glance
Air details are taken from Air’s public product pages and documentation, checked 15 October 2026.
Asset organisation and discovery
Product images need SKU, market and season; event media needs session and speaker. FileSpin’s assignable schemas keep both in one library, and search combines keywords, field filters, OCR and face search. Collections group campaign assets without duplicating originals.
Air organises assets on visual boards, where one asset can sit on several boards, with tags and workspace-wide custom fields.

AI editing and creative production
Remove backgrounds, create ghost-mannequin shots and clear the clutter on the product photos you already have, with batch cut-outs for whole shoots. Then create the sizes each channel needs from the same library.
Air Canvas generates new assets and variants from board content, with prompt-based edits and smart resizing.
Prepare product photos for your storefront
Clean up product photos with background removal, then create the sizes and formats your storefront needs from the same original.

Image and video delivery
Create a catalogue card, a detail view and a campaign banner from one original through URL transformations, with AVIF and WebP for compatible browsers. Standard on-demand outputs don’t count against storage. Recordings become SD and HD versions, adaptive HLS streams, clips and storyboards.
Air’s Public API generates CDN image links with size controls and JPG, PNG or WebP output for workspaces with CDN access.

Review, share and control access
Send an image or clip for internal or external review, collect comments and approve or reject it, with due dates and progress in Reviews. Give each share its own expiry, password, recipients and download options. On Scale and Enterprise, FileSpin can keep originals and renditions in your own AWS S3 bucket.
Air documents image comments, timestamped video feedback, Kanban stages, approval status and version history.

See a review go from request to sign-off
Watch the review and approval cycle in the FileSpin Dashboard: send an asset for review, collect comments and approve or reject decisions, then follow due dates and progress in Reviews until the work is signed off.
Automate recurring work and stay in control
Do day-to-day work from Dashboard menus and APIs. When you want help, ask the AI Agent to find assets, update metadata, prepare images and create shares, or connect Claude or ChatGPT through the MCP Connector. Scheduled Agents run recurring work, such as tagging a collection on a schedule.
Agent activity records every operation, and per-user credit limits keep usage in check. You can undo tagging and metadata changes. APIs, webhooks and Make, Zapier and n8n integrations connect FileSpin to the tools you already use.
Air offers a Workspace Agent, an MCP server for Claude, a Public API and integrations with creative and workflow tools.

Your first useful task with the Dashboard AI Agent
Give the Dashboard AI Agent a plain-language request, watch it find the assets and carry out the task, then check the result in the library.
Connect Claude or ChatGPT through the MCP Connector
Connect an AI assistant to your FileSpin account, then search assets, update metadata and create shares from the chat, under your own permissions.

Connect campaign delivery with operational insights
Tag campaign links by channel, placement and audience, then see the requests, bytes and assets delivered under each campaign. Share analytics shows which partner downloaded which file and output. Usage shows storage, API requests, delivery and AI credits by user and period.
Air shows workspace credit usage, sends share-link download notifications and, from connected ad accounts, reports how creative performs.

Pricing and free evaluation
Air offers a Free plan and paid plans with monthly credits shared across enriched storage and AI generation. Business lists CDN, Public API and MCP access, and self-serve paid plans are not priced per seat.
FileSpin publishes its plans: Pay as you go from $5 a month, Growth and Scale with included allowances, and Enterprise by agreement. Plans cover storage, delivery, video processing, AI usage and contributor seats. Customer-owned S3 storage is on Scale and Enterprise.
Move from Air with the right team behind you
Boards become collections without duplicate copies, custom fields map to schemas with readable values, tags are exported alongside each file, and the current version of each asset is recorded. Air share and CDN links are mapped to FileSpin delivery links before cutover.
Air supports downloading originals and boards, and multi-file downloads arrive as ZIP files. Plan for both the files and their organisation.
Start with one representative board. Inventory originals, versions, custom fields, tags, board membership, review records and CDN/share URLs. Map those records into FileSpin, then check file counts, search, permissions and the required outputs.
Canvas projects, creative history and comments need a retain-or-export decision. Configure FileSpin access and validate the approved version at every publishing destination.
With authorised Air API access, use the workspace ID and API key to list assets with cursor pagination. Include nested boards when your chosen board scope requires them. Save asset IDs and version IDs separately. Retrieve the download URL for each required version through the asset-version download endpoint. Export tags and custom fields alongside the files; downloads do not automatically embed the workspace’s tags.
